Before we all feel in love with a little green slab of clay called Gumby, or met Davey and Goliath , creator Art Clokey made a short three minute and ten-second film called "Gumbasia."

Like everything Art Cloke did, it was ahead of its time. The film was the first clay animation done by a man who would become the leader in this field for years to come. Set to avant-garde jazz, Gumbasia was a film of shapes and colors melting into each other and rolling around the screen. It is a fun short to watch and to think, this was done in 1955. It makes you wonder what he had in mind already while doing this film.
